Nancy Jean O’Connor
Nancy Jean O’Connor (nee Dobson), 80, passed away at home on May 2, 2023, with her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles (Robert) by her side. Nancy was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1942 and was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth M. Hanson (nee Minter), father, Samuel Dobson, and stepfather Dr. Alfred S. Hanson. She is survived by her children Mark O’Connor and his partner Scott Wistner of West Palm Beach, FL, John O’Connor and his wife (Susan) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Dr. Michael O’Connor and his wife Carola of Annandale VA, her sister Elizabeth Hanson (the late Alfred S. Hanson Jr.) of Miami, FL, sister-in-law Terrie Smith and her husband Robert, sister-in-law Madelon Helgeson (the late Peter L. Helgeson), several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy grew up in Pennsauken, NJ, graduated from the Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, PA, and worked for both Sun Oil Company and Blue Cross Blue Shield prior to retirement. She and Bob raised their family in Haddon Heights, NJ, and they also lived in Atlantic City, NJ and most recently, Satellite Beach, FL. She was an avid animal lover and especially enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, the ocean and boating.
Visitation will be Friday May 12, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 3050 North Highway A1A Indialantic, FL 32903 followed by a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nancy’s name to Best Friends Animal Society, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
