Born in Lebanon County, December 29,1943, to Russell Zellers and Ethel Irene Heim, who resided on the Wengert’s Dairy Farm. The Zellers Family owned the first cattle hauling business in Lebanon County; Ron operated the business for just a few years before he drove for Carlos Leffler Inc, in Richland, PA. In 1970, he became a road driver out of Lancaster, PA, for Yellow Freight Systems, Overland Park, Kansas, for 36 years. He was awarded a 3-million-mile safe driver award. He retired in 2006; while living in Perry County, PA.

His education was at Cornwall High School.

Ron married Evelyn Louise Walters on December 12, 1964, at Salem EUB Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He is the father of three daughters: Christy Turner (Lancaster), Ann Marie Dellinger-Jeff (Lewisberry), and Karin Frazier -Jeff (Harrisburg). His family includes five grandchildren—Nathaniel Heisey-Malinda, Joshua Day-Korinne, Matthew Heisey-Amy, Kaitlyn Biesecker-Jesse, and Michael Frazier-Nicole—as well as three great-grandsons and four great-granddaughters. Ron was predeceased by his son, Matthew Alan, and grandson, Andrew Zellers. He is also survived by his sister, Sandra Queen, who currently resides in California.

For the past seven years, Ron made his home in Melbourne, Florida, residing in a vibrant 55+ residential community. He embraced an active lifestyle, regularly enjoying bike rides throughout the neighborhood, swimming, and playing mini-golf. Ron also participated enthusiastically in senior Olympics competitions, demonstrating his passion for having fun.

The community offered a lively social calendar, with numerous dinner dances and special events filling his schedule each month. Ron was often found attending these gatherings, adding to the liveliness of the event.

Above all, Ron cherished his family, finding his greatest joy in their company. His love for NASCAR Cup races was a close second, reflecting his lifelong enthusiasm for the sport.

Ron will be missed for his friendliness and quick wit, for which he was well known. His one-liners will be remembered for a long time to come.
