Timothy Craig Jelus
July 1, 1962 — December 9, 2015
Timothy Craig Jelus, age 53, died on Tuesday December 8, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at their residence. From the time of his birth on July 1, 1962 to his death on Tuesday he nourished the lives of all that he came to know with love, laughter, and encouragement. Tim was born in Akron, Ohio to John and Elisabeth Jelus, and was the youngest of four children. Tim attended college at Akron University and graduated with a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering and The University of Central Florida with a Master's in Public Administration. Tim was married to Kim Jackie Cottis on December 31, 1991 and together they had one son, Alexander Jack Jelus, born May 21, 1995. Tim was most proud of his son, Alex. Tim, Kim, and Alex enjoyed spending time together at home and in the Melbourne area, as well as traveling with other family members to numerous destinations both within the United States and overseas. Tim was an accomplished real estate developer in the Melbourne area and was the President of Jelus Engineering. Tim was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic in his career duties. A faithful father and husband, Tim also enthusiastically served various community outreach efforts to help better the lives of those who were in need. Tim served as President of the Board of Daily Bread, a volunteer-driven organization that is empathetic to the plight of the poor, hungry and homeless in the Melbourne area. Tim enjoyed playing the guitar, working with the family's horses, as well as having fun with their precious Terriers. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kim; their son Alexander, his brothers John (Judy) and Michael and his sister Barbara Jelus, all residents of Akron Ohio, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, his father and his sister-in-law Cheryl Jelus. Tim will be remembered as a bright and shining light in the communities and churches in which he served. A celebration of Tim's life will be held in a Funeral Mass at Ascension Catholic Community located at 2950 N Harbor City Blvd in Melbourne on Wednesday December 16 at 4PM. The family will greet friends at a reception after the Funeral Mass. The family would like to thank John Ferrell and Father Tobin of Ascension for their support and advice during this time, as well as Ms. Karen D'Amato of Satellite Beach for her love and care.
