Biography Adelaide Van Wagenen went to the Lord on Thursday, August 27th at Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice. A wonderful life has ended but a new heavenly adventure awaits her. Born in New York City in 1914, she graduated from New York University at New Paltz, New York and taught school for 27 years in Kingston, New York. Upon retirement she moved to Twin Towers in Cocoa Beach and then to The Place Assisted Living Facility in Merritt Island She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Daniel Van Wagenen. Adelaide is survived by daughter Deborah and son-in-law Bernard Palmeri of New Bern, NC; son Daniel and daughter-in-law Kathleen Van Wagenen of Cocoa Beach, FL; six grandchildren, ¬ Sharon, Lisa and Tara Van Wagenen, Maria Baird and Michael and Chris DeLorenzo; and three great grandchildren - Sean, Danny and Carli DeLorenzo. Adelaide was an active volunteer in many organizations including Past President - Kingston Teacher's Assoc., and Woman's Club of Y.W.C.A., Camp Chairman of Ulster County Girl Scouts, Life Member and Officer of American Assoc. of University Women, 9 Holers Golf Assoc., 18 year volunteer at Cape Canaveral Hospital, and Eucharistic Minister and Minister to the sick at Our Saviors Church. A Memorial Mass will be at Our Savior's Church in Cocoa Beach at 10: 30 on Thursday, Sept.3, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice, 8060 Spy Glass Hill Rd, Viera, FL 32940.
