Command Sergeant Major (ret) Arnold Wayne Lowe passed away at his home in Rockledge Florida on April 15, 2010 He was 83 years old. Arnold was born in Hartford Connecticut on May 1, 1926, to Mabel and Frank Lowe. He attended Wethersfield High School where he was captain of the track team and set a school record that remained unbroken for more than 20 years - 4:28 for the mile. Frank Lowe signed permission for
Arnold to enter the United States Army after high school at only 18 years old. Arnold had many assignments such as Greenland, occupied Germany, Hawaii ,Fort Sill Ok., and Viet Nam. He loved military life and was deeply committed to the service even after his retirement from active duty in 1974.
Arnold was preceded in death by Shirley Ellen Bennett, his dearly beloved wife of 56 years, and his brothers Lloyd and Wendell. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Jane Stroebel, who resides in Rhode Island ,a daughter Ellen (Paul) Williams, sons Robert Arnold (Terri)Lowe of Charlotte ,North Carolina ,Gary Bennett (Rebecca) Lowe of Yorktown Va. , 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
A remembrance service is being held at the Church of The Nazarene in Rockledge Saturday May 1st at 10:00 am.
The family would like to express it's sincerest gratitude to all those who prayed , called , stopped by, cooked ,and extended their sympathies during this time of celebration of Arnold's life !
