Barbara Macnab
March 12, 1936 — January 26, 2010
Barbara Weeks MacNab, age 73, passed away at Wuestoff Hospital, Rockledge, Florida, surrounded by her family on January 26, 2010 after a valiant battle against COPD.
Barbara was born in White Plains, New York on March 12, 1936. As a youngster, she lived in Minnesota and Connecticut. She met her husband of 53 years while he was a student at the University of Connecticut and they were married August 24, 1956. As a wife of a US Air Force officer, she lived throughout the United States and Trinidad & Tobago and Antigua. They settled in the Space Coast, living in Merritt Island for 30 years.
Her talents and interests were many ranging from music to politics to needlework and beading. She and her husband shared an interest in dog breeding and they produced many champion Bichon Frises and Dandy Dinmont Terriers. With a life long interest in American politics and history, she was a vocal proponent of the US Constitution. She loved to camp, sail and go on cruises. She was Phi Theta Kappa while attending Brevard Community College and she recently discovered the Internet!
Barbara is survived by her husband, Forrest, and her daughter, Cindy and husband Larry Roberts, grandchild, David Wright of Indian Harbour Beach; and her sister, Linda Post; her best friends Betty Moltros and Monica Thompson; her beloved Chihuahuas Tiki and Mr. Bean. She was predeceased by son Forrest, Jr. and parents William and Madge Weeks.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Monday, February 1, 2010 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, 101 N. Brevard Avenue Cocoa Beach, Florida beginning at 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Interment of ashes at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida will be private.
She had a drive and never settled for mediocrity! She had a deep love for her family and friends.
