Edward Michael Shue
December 19, 1927 — July 5, 2010
Edward M. Shue
December 19, 1927- July 05, 2010
Edward M. Shue died July 05, 2010 after a prolong battle with kidney disease. Ed was born December 19, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland; He joined the US Army at the end of WW II. When he returned home he finished school at Towson Catholic, married Judith Connelly Shue and started a life-long career with American Oil Company. Ed and his family transferred with American Oil first to Atlanta, Georgia then to Kansas City, Missouri. He retired to the Melbourne, Florida area in 1988 where he perfected the art of loading the dishwasher and emptying the trash.
In addition to Judy, his wife of 56 years, he is survived by their seven children; Michael Shue, Kathy Fleming, Terry Dierks, Kenny Shue, Tom Shue, Donna Snyder of Atlanta, GA, Nancy Boyd of Lee's Summit, MO and 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Gene of Marina Del Ray, California and many nieces and nephews.
Ed (nicknamed "Ears") was raised by his mother Rose Rice Shue, grew up in the Govans section of Baltimore with his sisters and brother Delores, Mary Rose and Gene.
A natural athlete and a consummate gamesman Ed enjoyed playing golf, cards and making up games of competition, skill and dubious, ever-changing rules. So it was only fitting that his last game was just a few weeks ago when he pitched in a wiffle ball game with his children and grandchildren (struck out three, walked one when he hit the batter on purpose, gave up two runs).
A funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be Friday, July 23 at 11:00 am at Saint John The Evangelist Catholic Church, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Florida. The celebrant will be Father Dan Fleming, pastor of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Newnan, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Melbourne Kidney Center, 1400 S. Appollo Blvd., Melbourne, Florida 32901. Checks must be made out to Melbourne Kidney Center.
