Emily Fern Griffith Shone passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009. Emily was born March 14, 1913 in Jenners Township, Pennsylvania one of nine children of Jonas Mauro & Elizabeth Alma Spangler Griffith, all deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband John Thomas Shone in 1966 , a grandchild, and two great grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters Lina Shone Ingraham of Jacksonville, Fl. and Janice
Bower of Rockledge, Fl., a son Thomas Neil ( Dorothy ) Shone of Nacogdoches, Texas, nine grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews who knew her as Aunt Chut.
Emily, known for her pleasant smile, loved to sew and was a professional seamstress for retail and manufacturing companies in Fairmont and Huntington, West Virginia and Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
One of Emily's fondest memories included dancing to the most of the ""Big Bands""
during their era. Her love of dancing continued well into her eighties. She came to Brevard County in 1998, and until this spring, Emily could be seen, almost daily, sitting on her rolling seat pulling weeds in the yard.
There will be no local services for Emily, as she will be laid to rest with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, where there will be a celebration of her life after interment.In lieu of flowers , the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association or to the charity of your choice.
