Joseph M. Gibney, 81 died at 5:05A.M. on September 8, 2009 at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida after a prolong illness. He was an active member of the Melbourne Knights of Columbus and the Brevard County “1013” Club of Retired New York City Policemen. He retired in 1975 as a New York City Police Detective after 20years of service as well as retiring from the U.S .Navy and U.S .Naval Reserves after serving almost 40 years.
He is survived by many friends and a loving son Dr. Vincent J. Gibney and his wife Candace of Ryland Heights, Kentucky as well as his grandchildren Tricia & Brenden and great grandchildren Trent and Tara. Two brothers Thomas and wife ( Arlene) Gibney of New York City and Richard and wife ( Eleanor) Gibney of Lawrenceville, Pa.. Joseph was preceded in death by his first son Michael and two brothers Frank and Robert Gibney.
He was much loved by all.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 3-5 P.M. with a funeral service at 4:00 P.M. at Beckman-Williamson Funeral 5400 Village Dr., Viera, Fl.. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Policemans Benevolent Association, Detectives Endowment Association, U. S. Navy Memorial, or American Heart & Lung Association
