Laurence Thomas Lamm "Larry" (age 86) of Cocoa, FL, passed away on February 18, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Barbara, children Pat Lamm (Edwina), Chris Lamm (Joanne), Laurie Dement (Jerry) and Janet Lamm; and grandchildren Shannon Maynard, John Dement, Becky Lamm, Kelly Piselli, Tom Lamm and Stephen Lamm. He is also survived by a sister, Deni Lamm, and two brothers Rob Lamm and Kermit Lamm. He was preceded in death by his sister Leanne Kingsbury. He is also survived by a great-grandson, a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Larry was born in New York City on November 11, 1931, and was a graduate of St. John’s University on Long Island in 1960. He served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951 earning several medals, including the Purple Heart with four Oak Leaf clusters. After graduating from college, Larry served as a teacher in the Long Island school system for 35 years, during which he had a significant positive impact on the education of many high school students. He retired from teaching in 1995. He loved boating, going to yard sales, fixing just about anything, and spending time with his family. He dearly loved his grandchildren and was so proud of each of them. He was a member of Chancellor Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA. Memorial services will be held at Chancellor Baptist Church, 11324 Gordon Rd, Fredericksburg, VA 22407, on Saturday, March 17 at 4pm followed by a reception. Visitation will be at the church starting at 3pm. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
