Perry L. Huie
Col. Perry L. Huie, 88, of Rockledge, Florida, died at 9 pm on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge. He is survived by his sons, Stan and Mike, his daughter, Leslie and step-daughter Judy Fritz. Col. Huie was born in Sesser, IL, and served for 30 years in the Army Air Corps and US Air Force. He graduated with an undergraduate degree in engineering and a masters in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. Perry received initial training as a pilot in the Stearman PT-13 at Arcadia, Florida and served as a pilot and squadron commander in World War II with the 95th Bombardment Group (H) of the 8th Air Force in England. He also served in the Korean conflict and with the post-war occupation forces in Japan. He continued to serve at the Pentagon and as an engineer with the Electronics Systems Division of the Air Research and Development Command. After retiring from the Air Force Perry became a broker with Merrill Lynch at the Cocoa and Merritt Island offices. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Cocoa at 11 am on Saturday, May 30th. Graveside services will be at Arlington Memorial Cemetery at 1 pm on Monday, August 17th where he will be interned with his wife Peggy and son Chris.
