Robert Figlioli

Robert A. Figlioli, 78, of Cocoa Beach, passed away Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Bob (known as Fig to friends) was born in Portland, Pennsylvania in 1932; he was the son of Anthony and Helen Figlioli. He graduated from Bangor High School (Pa.) in 1951 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served for four years as a photographer aboard the Admiral’s flagship U.S.S. Greenwich Bay. After leaving the Navy, Bob attended Rochester Institute of Technology and earned an AS degree in photography. When he graduated in 1958, he was hired by RCA to work as a photographer at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. He married high school classmate Carolyn Eisenhart (Bangor, Pa.) the same year. The couple moved from Pennsylvania to Titusville after their marriage, then to Eau Gallie and finally to Cocoa Beach in 1961 where they made their home. Bob was employed by Pratt & Whitney and by ABC Liquors after he left RCA in 1971. He enjoyed flying and held a private pilots license, he also collected coins and WWII memorabilia. After his retirement in 1997, Bob and Carolyn traveled to Europe, China, Thailand and Hawaii. Bob is survived by his wife Carolyn, of Cocoa Beach, daughter Karen Zamonis (Leonard) of Orlando, Florida, son Robert E. Figlioli (Yourly) of El Cajon, California, daughter Linda Farragher (Liam) of Niantic, Connecticut, son Scott Figlioli of Fresno, California, and by 13 grand children and 1 great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Cocoa Beach Community Church. A celebration of his life will follow. His ashes will be buried in St. Johns Cemetery in Bangor Pennsylvania at a later date.
