Robert Hartman, Jr

Robert F. Hartman Jr., 86, a twelve-year resident of Rockledge, died at home on Oct. 30 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born April 14, 1923, the son of Robert F. Hartman and Anne L. Hartman, he was raised in Allentown, PA. After attending Lafayette College for two years, he entered the U.S. Navy's V-12 program in 1943. Following a year of training, he served in the South Pacific in the rank of Ensign and later, Lieutenant (jg), aboard LCI(G) 78, participating in the battles of Peleliu and Okinawa. Mr. Hartman was released from the service in 1946 and returned to college, obtaining a BS from Lehigh University and later, an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Mr. Hartman was a Certified Public Accountant, working in public accounting for many years, as well as teaching accounting at several universities. He retired in 1986 from Hartman & Hartman, CPAs, of Temple Terrace, FL, a firm he founded in 1977. Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Helen O. Hartman; his five sons, Robert F. Hartman III, Edward H. Hartman, Peter J.Hartman, Jeffrey W. Hartman, and Thomas W. Hartman; his seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
