Biography Robert J. Rioux died at his home in Melbourne, Florida on March 6, 2010. Mr. Rioux was born March 7, 1919 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of Desire Rioux and Geraldine Moran Rioux. Mr. Rioux graduated from the University of Utah in 1941. Upon graduation, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Field Artillery and ordered to active duty. During WWII, he served with the 79th and 86th Divisions in the European and Pacific Theaters. In 1946, he returned to reserve status as a Lt. Colonel, from which he retired in 1979. From 1951 until his retirement in 1975, Mr. Rioux enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an intelligence officer with the Central Intelligence Agency. In 1998, Mr. Rioux moved to the Indian River Colony Club in Melbourne. He was a member of TROA, CIRA, and NARFE local chapters. He was an avid golfer and singer his entire life. Mr. Rioux was predeceased in 2001, by his wife of 51 years, Jane Jossman Rioux. He is survived by his daughters Joan Dindoffer and Ann Kimbro, his sister Audrey Brent, his brother Roger Quisenberry, and four grandchildren. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Community, 5655 Stadium Parkway, Viera, Florida 32940. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
