Shirley ""Maxine"" Carter of Cocoa Beach, passed away June 9, 2010.
Maxine was born March 18, 1926 in Tillman/Ft. Meade, Florida to Clint and Lessie Durrance. Maxine was one of eight children; she grew up in Ft. Meade, married and had two sons. Maxine taught kindergarten at Ft. Meade Pre-School and in 1962 moved to Cocoa Beach with sons Johnny and Danny Ringdahl.
Maxine was a homemaker an in addition to caring for her family, started a jewelry business and sold to souvenir stores across the state. She was also active in the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the D.A.V., and Masonic Eastern Star.
Maxine was predeceased by her oldest son Johnny in 1992. She is survived by husband LT. Col. John Carter, son Danny Ringdahl, brother Bobbie Durrance, a grandson, great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Visitation will be from 5pm till 7pm Friday, June 11th at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. Funeral Services will be held 3pm Saturday June 12th at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens.
