Thomas O'Grady

Thomas O'Grady passed away at home on July 13. He was born July 1, 1926, in White Plains, NY, the third of four children born to Thomas and Jane O'Grady. Tom enlisted in the Navy at 17 and served in the Pacific aboard the USS Effingham. After discharge he returned to college and married Hedy Holzhauer. He moved to Cocoa Beach to work on the space program in 1965. For over 20 years he owned a computer programming company, and he traveled to Ft. Lauderdale every week so he could keep his family in Cocoa Beach. He was an avid golfer and sailor. Tom helped shape Cocoa Beach by joining the Planning and Zoning Board in the 60s. One of the early members of the Cocoa Beach Golf Club, he was among the first foursome to play the course. He was active in the Church as Lector and Minister of the Eucharist. Thomas loved his Church, family, and many friends, and he was loved in turn. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Hedy O'Grady, and his children, Diane Ray, Thomas O'Grady, Eugene O'Grady, Susan O'Grady and Kathleen O'Grady, as well as 7 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. A Mass in celebration of his life will be held on July 17 at 1pm at Our Savior’s Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach FL.
