Jean Hroncich
October 26, 1950 — April 10, 2026
Jean Marie Hroncich (Bruwer), born October 26, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on April 10, 2026. She was a resident of Viera, Florida at the time of her passing, and had previously lived in Floral Park, New York, as well as Long Island, Wilmington, North Carolina, and Brevard County, Florida.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Hroncich; her parents, Angelina Fabianksi (Giordano) and Bruno Bruwer; her sister, Teresa Gaither (Bruwer); and her nephew, Joshua Gaither.
Jean was a devoted wife who shared a beautiful and enduring love story with her late husband, John. They met at a community center dance in Queens, New York, and from that moment on were inseparable. After three years of courtship, they married and went on to spend more than 52 joyful years side by side, building a life filled with love, laughter, travel, adventures and shared dreams. Their home was brightened by Chico, their cherished parrot, whose spirited presence brought them comfort and delight through the years. The life she shared with John, rooted in steadfast friendship and enduring devotion, remained the center of Jean’s world and a love she carried with her always.
Jean began her career as an administrative assistant in the typing pool at Pan American World Airways, an experience that gave her and her husband John the opportunity to tour the world together and create many cherished memories. She later worked for several architectural firms, where her organization, dedication, and attention to detail made her an invaluable part of each team. She ultimately retired from the City of Wilmington, North Carolina.
She was an incredible woman whose warmth, humor, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone around her. Jean had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease, whether through a shared meal, a lively game, or time spent on the dance floor. She loved good food, dancing, Zumba, and gathering with friends, and her infectious laugh and vibrant spirit brought joy to every room she entered. The friendships she built over the years were deep and enduring, a reflection of the care and kindness she gave so freely.
She is survived by her loving family, including her devoted niece, Jessica Barnhouse, Jessica’s spouse, Aleck Ross-Frye, and their daughter, Charlotte Barnhouse Ross, with whom she shared a close and meaningful bond despite the distance between them. She is also survived by her beloved nephew and godson, Michael Zgaljardic, his spouse, Stacey, and their children, whose care and support brought her great comfort in recent months.
In addition, she is survived by her niece Joanne Licul; her spouse, Rudy, and their children, John and Gina, also her goddaughter; as well as her many nieces and nephews, including Virgilio, Maryann, Lino, David and John, along with their families. She is survived by her Aunt Connie Giordano, her brother-in-law John Zgaljardic, her sisters-in-law Libe Zgaljardic and Denzi Hroncich, and many cousins. She held each of her relatives dear, carrying with her many years of wonderful family memories and remaining especially close with those who stayed a steady presence in her life. She is also survived by her many and dear friends who will cherish her memory.
A funeral mass to celebrate Jean’s life will be held on May 16, 2026 at 11:00 am, at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Rockledge, Florida.
Jean will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
