Michael "Mikey" Hoffman
d. April 8, 2026
Michael “Mikey” J. Hoffman, 57, of Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, with loved ones by his side. Mike was born in Paterson, NJ and raised in Atlantic City area. He is survived by his wife, Helen Kelly Hoffman; his mother, Grace “Bunny” Metcalf; his siblings, Donna Durkin, Donald “Skip” Hoffman (Tinny), and Scotty Hoffman; and daughters, Lexi Morell and Jordan Hoffman.
Mike was loved by many and well known in Cocoa Beach, as he lived there for over 30 years. His loved ones all have a great “Mikey story”. Most begin with, “Mikey was the first person I met when I moved to Cocoa Beach”. He had a gift for making people feel welcomed and turning strangers into life long friends. One of the greatest “Mikey stories” is the story of Mike and Kelly. They actually met 2 years out of High School in Wildwood NJ. Their adventurous relationship took them to Melbourne, FL. Their relationship didn’t last, as they still had much growing up to do. Kelly moved back to PA and the two moved on. They were to grow up and have separate lives and kids. But their story didn’t end there. By the grace of God, Mike and Kelly would reconnect 26 years later. Their love was stronger than before and it was as if they never missed a beat. They were married in 2020. A real life fairytale.
Mike was passionate about his family and friends and had a heart of gold. He was known for his exuberant personality, contagious smile, booming laugh (God how we’ll miss that laugh) and love of sports. He was an avid golfer and a die hard Raiders and Yankees fan. When asked how they came to be his teams, he said his grandfather worked for the Yankees for years and shared memories of attending Yankees games with his younger brother, Scotty. His grandfather would get them seated and give them money for snacks. And the Raiders…he attended an Eagles vs Raiders game as a child. He went as an Eagles fan but after seeing the Raiders roll onto the field, like a bunch of dirty pirates, he left a Raiders fan.
Mikey worked at Slow n Low BBQ for the last 18 years but was a bartender for over 30. Anyone would agree, he was the best. He was even awarded Bartender of the Month in The Beachside Resident, December 2018. When asked for the article, “what is number one on your bucket list?” He replied, “I know this sounds weird, but I don’t really have a bucket list. I live in paradise. I have an amazing woman in my life (Kelly), a great family, and the best friends in the world. What can I say? I’m a lucky guy.”
He truly lived life to the fullest and put his heart into everything he did. He will be greatly missed by all his loved ones, especially his wife and dog Thor.
Relatives and friends are invited to Mike’s Celebration of Life at Cocoa Beach Country Club, 19th hole, May 3, 2026 at 2pm.
