Elaine was born in Bremerton, Washington on January 3, 1929 to her parents Andrew and Rena Pappas. She attended Bremerton High School, and studied at the University of Washington. Elaine was an accomplished pianist, and met her husband John when she was asked to play the piano for a quartet in which John sang bass. She devoted her life to Jesus Christ, supporting her loving husband John, and raising her seven children. Her home was often filled with music, and open for anyone who wanted to join in the family meal. She shared the word of God with everyone she met, and visitors to her home always got an invitation to go to church.Elaine passed away peacefully in her sleep at her Edmonds home early Friday morning, May 22 with her husband John at her bedside, just 18 days from their 60th wedding anniversary.Elaine is survived by her husband John, their seven children Stephen, Nancy, Jan, MariAnne, John Jr., David and Phillip, 19 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Elaines brothers Jim and Lloyd preceded her in death. Elaine is greatly missed by all who knew her.A memorial service will be held at noon, Friday, May 29th at the University Presbyterian Church, 4540 15th Avenue N.E. Seattle, WA 98105. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Crista Ministries Kings School, 19303 Fremont Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133.
