Julia Maria Johnson

Born on February 28, 1928, in Hong Kong, she was the sixth of seven children. At the age of 25, Julia followed two of her sisters and immigrated to San Francisco. She moved to Seattle with her first husband, Rodney York, and two of their children in 1961. A year later they settled in what is now Shoreline, where she lived until 2008. In the intervening years Julia reared her family, for 23 years owned The Poodle Puff (a dog grooming business), and, in 1980, met Donald, her current husband. Wed in 1987, they shared 24 happy years together enjoying fishing, traveling, the horse races, tennis and their families. Three years ago, Julia and Don were one of the first residents of Ballard Landmark, where they made many wonde friends. Julia died peacefully in her sleep on October 20, 2011. Julia is survived by her husband, Donald G. Johnson; her three children, Wendy Clark, Bryan York, and Michael York; four grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher York, Kajsa Castro and Devin Clark; and two great-grandchildren.
