She graduated from United Township High School in East Moline. 110%Mid attended and graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, with a Bachelors Degree in 1946. During her college years she was a member and president of her sorority Kappa Epsilon the Keys. She met Lloyd in her senior year while he was attending the college 1 year. Lloyd had been a teacher and decided it wasnt for him, so went back to school to become an engineer. After graduation she taught 5 years at her high school alma mater, while Lloyd went back to Washington state to continue his studies to become an engineer. Travels with college friends included a trip to New York, Washington, D.C., and a summer at Camp Karamac, in New Jersey. In 1948, Mid and three of her college friends drove out in a Model A Ford to see California, then on to Seattle to visit Lloyd, who was working as a civil engineer. 110%They were married in 1951, in East Moline, at Mids mothers house. In 1951, Lloyd and Mid got their first apartment in Lake City, WA. Mid taught Physical Education at Jane Adams Junior High in Lake City for 1 year. In 1952, Mid hadnt forgotten California, so they moved to San Francisco where Lloyd got a new engineering job. Eventually, they moved to Redwood City, CA, where they had three sons; Steve, John and Bob. In 1958, they packed up their things and headed North with five people in a Volkswagen beetle back to Lloyds mothers house in Ballard and lived in the basement temporarily. They rented a house in Shoreline, later moving to their present house in Edmonds in 1959. Their daughter, Suzanne, was born in 1960. Mid spent the next 25 years at home, nurturing her 4 children through their school years. 110%Mid and Lloyd really embraced their Swedish heritage and were members of the Swedish Club in Seattle. Lloyd and Mid even took Scandinavian dance lessons in Ballard. They travelled back to Sweden and Northern Europe twice. The first trip, in 1969, was with the entire family. A Volkswagen bus camper was ordered and picked up in Denmark. A month was spent together camping throughout Europe, visiting Mids fathers birthplace, and Lloyds homeland and relatives. 110%Following Lloyds retirement in 1983 they took an extended trip by train to the East Coast, Gulf Coast, then on to the West coast. Other travels included visits to England, Ireland, Scotland, and a cruise to Alaska. Numerous other vacations around the Northwest were enjoyed with Bill and Jeanette Howell (Mids cousin). 110%Mid enjoyed playing tennis, oil painting, rose maling on furniture, digital photography of her garden, antiquing and junking. Her favorite thing to collect was blue collector dishes. She taught herself to play her piano. Her real passion was her garden, where she worked meticulously. Everyone commented on its beauty. Her last great find junking was the Mariner wagon, which she was so excited about. It fit in the yard with her recent love of garden art. 110%Mid leaves her loving family, her husband Lloyd of 62 years, sons Steve, John , son Bob and wife Jenny and their daughter Carli, daughter Suzanne, as well as relatives and numerous friends.
