Randi Lovlie
June 12, 1935 — March 31, 2026
Randi Johansen Lovlie
June 12, 1935 – March 31, 2026
Randi Johansen Lovlie was born in Trondheim, Norway on June 12, 1935, the youngest of three children born to Birger and Anna Johansen.
Randi’s earliest and formative years, from 1940 – 1945, were spent at her grandparents’ farm in the countryside of Norway during the German Occupation of World War II. After the war she returned with her family to Trondheim and enrolled in school, where she finished Grade 10. She took bookkeeping and secretarial courses and soon found employment in an office.
Randi met the love of her life, Bjorn Lovlie, in Trondheim in 1953. They enjoyed dancing, hiking, skiing, and spending time with Bjorn’s brother, Svenn on adventures. When Bjorn got his first motorcycle, they spent many trips exploring and camping and enjoying the beautiful nature of Norway.
Randi and Bjorn married on October 18, 1958 in Trondheim, Norway, and soon left on the Songefjord ship in February, 1959 for the shores of America, a dream finally realized for the young couple. After many days at sea they arrived in New York City, passing the Statue of Liberty and embracing all that she represented and all that would follow. A cross-country Greyhound bus ride landed them in Ballard where they first settled, then purchased their first home in the Maple Leaf neighborhood of Seattle where they raised two children, Liz and Erik, then moving to Everett in 1976.
Randi was a life member of Sons of Norway, Normanna Lodge #2, Everett where she and Bjorn were very active members, spending years volunteering at Language Camp, bowling on various Sons of Norway leagues, Christmas Julebord, pancake Saturdays and, of course, dancing.
Randi was a devoted mother to Liz and Erik, and Mormor/Grandma to Kim, Connor, Saraand Danielle, and later enjoyed her great-grandchildren.
Randi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bjorn, her parents, Birger and Anna Johansen, brother Odd Johansen, and sister Inger Johansen Ottesen. She is survived by her children, Liz (Phil) and Erik (Pepper), grandchildren Kim (David and Sarah), Connor (Katie), Sara(Michael) and Danielle (Alex), great grandchildren David, Liam, Emma, Otto, Marci, Hunter and Bennett, and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and abroad.
Services to celebrate Randi will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2026 (Syttende Mai –Norwegian Constitution Day) at 11:30 a.m. at Beck’s Tribute Center, 405 5th Avenue S, Edmonds, Washington.
