Susan Lauraine Aker

WA - Susan Aker (Sue), age 84, passed away at home on May 12, 2025, in Shoreline, Washington. Born June 1940 in Skykomish, WA. to Josephine and Carl Swartwood, Sue grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and carried that sense of warmth and grace throughout her life.

Sue is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Dennis A. Aker, and her loving children: Angela Harris, with her children Nick, Meggie (and grandson Aker), Emily, and Jack; Kathy (Erik) Clark, with their children Jacob (and grandchildren Jack, Rowan, and Freya), Jared, and Madison; Denise (Matt) Richter, with their children Chad, Kailee, and Allie; and Mark (Jenn) Aker, with their daughters Ryleigh, Adelyn, and Emery. Sue is also survived by her cherished sister, Judy Remington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and Carl Swartwood, brothers Gene and David, and sister Joanne.

Sue was an amazing mother, wife, homemaker, and friend to many. She was a devoted member of St. Luke's Parish for over 60 years, an active member of several car clubs, and a dedicated volunteer at school and church. Conversations with Sue always left others with a smile on their face and a warm feeling in their heart.

Family was Sue's greatest pride. She was known for her unwavering wisdom, her warm embrace, and her gentle encouragement. Throughout her life, Sue touched countless young lives with love and understanding, leaving a lasting mark not only on her family but also on the many hearts she touched. Those who had the privilege of knowing her described her with one word, "Special".

A Funeral Mass to honor Susan's life will be held on Wednesday May 28th, 2025, at 11:00 am. at St. Luke's Parish, located at 322 N 175th St, Shoreline, WA 98133. Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance of this remarkable woman who brought light and love to all she knew.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in Sue's memory, as a way to continue her legacy of kindness and care.

Her kindness, wisdom, and boundless love will live on in the stories, smiles, and warmth she left behind in all who were blessed to know her.
