Theresa M. Sacco

Theresa Margaret (Terry) Sacco, 98, passed away peacefully at her home on June 18, 2026. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Theresa was born in Seattle on November 4, 1927, daughter of the late Barbara and Mike Sarunich. Graduating from Bainbridge Island High School in 1945, Theresa started her career as a secretary for a wholesale frozen food company where she worked for 6 years prior to meeting her husband, the late John Peter Sacco. Theresa and John married on November 3, 1951 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Queen Anne and soon after moved to Rainier Valley in South Seattle, where Theresa worked as a secretary at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Catholic Church. Theresa and John were avid ballroom dancers, participating in local competitions throughout the Seattle area.

In 1968, Theresa and John moved to the Matthews Beach neighborhood of Northeast Seattle and opened JP’s Market, a local grocery store. Theresa was an integral part of the store’s operation, working as bookkeeper, payroll manager, and checker. Throughout her life, Theresa was a valued member of the American Slavic Women's Club and West Side Italian Civic Club, and a trusted volunteer at Holy Rosary Parish in Edmonds.

Theresa loved to travel, visiting Italy, France, and Croatia with friends and taking a 3-week cruise through the Panama Canal on her own. Closer to her home in Edmonds, she could be counted on to enjoy an impromptu drive up to Snohomish, La Conner, Anacortes, or Mount Vernon to enjoy the scenery with a cup of coffee and a scone. Her love of cooking and hosting (including her signature pasta sauce!) will be remembered by all her friends and family. She had the ability to make all she met feel welcomed, comfortable, and brightened with her sense of humor and caring spirit.

In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa is preceded in death by her brother, Danny, and sisters, Barbara and Georgia. Theresa is survived by her four children: Barbara, John, Donald, and Theresa; and her four grandchildren: Marcus, Rachel, Ashley, and Francesca.

A funeral mass celebrating Theresa’s life will be held on July 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Edmonds. Following the funeral mass, a celebration of life reception will be held at the Edmonds Yacht Club on July 2nd at 2:00 p.m.
