"South Hadley, Aldine Ann (O'Leary) Chivas, 80, died on January 8, 2010 at Baystate Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Born in Holyoke on February 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Daniel C. and Theresa (Schindler) O'Leary. She attended Holyoke Hospital Nursing School graduating in 1950. She worked as a Psychiatric Nurse at Baystate Medical Center for 25 years, retiring in 1991. She loved time with her family and friends, golfing at East Mountain in Westfield, reading, her trips to the beach and playing bridge. She will be deeply missed by her four children, Cynthia Rodgers with whom she lived, Donald of MS, John and his wife Karen Hertel of Skokie, IL, Paul and his wife Cathy of So. Hadley, along with her 6 grandchildren, Marty Rodgers, Meagan, Heather, Sarah, Nicole and Sam Chivas and her great grandson, Nolan Rodgers. Her sister, Mary Kneeland of FL, and many nieces, nephews and good friends also survive her. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Shirley Woolwine, Theresa Mulvaney, and Dorothy Leary and two brothers, Daniel and Francis O'Leary. A celebration of life service will be on Tuesday January 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Bees & Story So. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. Calling hours precede the service from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. In liey of flowers, memorial donations in Aldine's memory may be made to: Baystate Medical Center, S3 Oncology Unit, 759 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA 01199 or Baystate VNA and Hospice, 50 Maple St., PO Box 9058, Springfield, MA 01101.
