" South Hadley, Alfred E. Harnois , 88, of Dale St. , died October 3, 2005 at Holyoke Hospital . Born June 14, 1917 in Taunton , MA , he has lived in South Hadley since 1954 and was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Church. He retired from Production Pattern in Chicopee and also worked for years at Bryant Machine and Shop Rite in Springfield . In his leisure he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, animals and repairing small engines. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Anita (LaFlamme ) Harnois , a daughter Nancy Harnois of Springfield and a son Wesley Harnois and his wife Beverly of Monson. He also leaves a sister Anita McKnelly of Longwood , FL a brother Edward Harnois of Chicopee and four grandchildren Elaine Davis, Dyanne Rousseau, Kevin Malsbury and Karen Davis and nine great grandchildren. He will also be missed by a close friend Carol Burrell of Springfield , many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Penny. A funeral service will be Saturday at 9:00am from the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, followed by a mass at 10:00 am in St. Theresa’s church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery . Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00-7:00pm. Donations may be made in his memory to a charity of ones choice. "
