"Granby - Armand R. Couture, RPh , 87, passed away at home with the love of his family surrounding him on July 26, 2016. Born October 25, 1928 in Holyoke, he was the son of Armand L. and Aldea (Bourez) Couture. For over 30 years, Armand worked at Holyoke Medical Center as a Registered Pharmacist. Prior to the hospital, he worked at many retail pharmacies in the area. He was a member of the Beavers Club in Holyoke, various Pharmacy Associations as well as being a former member of the Knights of Columbus. For the past 57 years, Armand and his wife Claire have lived in Granby, previously of Willimansett. He was also a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Armand will be dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Claire (Kleindienst), along with his children, James A. and his wife Anna Levine of Wilbraham, Michael J. of Southbridge, and Andrea C. Couture-Soja and her husband Steven Soja of Belchertown. Armand also leaves his former daughters-in law, Carole Duquette of Dudley and Melanie Lewis of Belchertown; seven grandchildren, Madison Couture, Amaran and Bret Soja, Sophie and Sasha Kanetani, Matthew and Rachel Soja; his brother-in-law, Robert Kleindienst and his wife Lynn; sisters-in-law, Constance Kleindienst and Alice Keyes; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Lucille Aubuchon. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the funeral home for 9:00 a.m. on Monday. Visitation will be Sunday, July 31st from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers and Story South Hadley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holyoke Medical Center Emergency Renovation Fund, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, or Cooley Dickinson Hospice.
