Avis A. Mitchell

"South Hadley - Avis A.(Peetz) Mitchell, 91, of Granby Rd., passed away on February 8, 2015 in Baystate Medical Center. A lifelong resident of South Hadley, she was born June 11, 1923 in Holyoke, MA, daughter of Walter and Leah (Lines) Peetz. Avis retired, from the former Marcal Paper Mill in South Hadley, where she worked as a secretary for over 20 years. She was a member of the Falls Congregational Church and was an avid golfer at Westover Country Club. In her leisure, she enjoyed dancing, traveling and spending holidays with her family. She will be deeply missed by two sons, Mark Mitchell and his wife Connie of Hawaii and Gregg Mitchell and his wife Susan of South Hadley. Avis will also be missed by six grandchildren, David Mitchell and wife Linda, Sarah Bean and husband Greg, Amanda Martin and husband Andrew, Gregg Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell and Jennifer Mitchell, as well as four great grandchildren Logan and Olivia Mitchell, Jaden and Harper Bean. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Besides, her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward Mitchell in 2008 and her brother Robert Peetz. Funeral Service will be held at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home on February 14, 2015 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart and Lung Association. "
