"Belchertown-Charles J. Lydon, Sr., 72, passed away September 10, 2016. Born in Holyoke, on Mother's Day, May 13, 1944, he was the son of Charles P. and Isabelle (Charon) Lydon. Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving as Commander and Vice Commander. For 43 years, he worked at Mt. Holyoke College as an electrician, until his retirement 7 years ago. Charles has lived in Belchertown for the past 43 of years, previously living in South Hadley. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 49 years, Elaine Anne (Miller) along with his children, Charles J. Lydon, Jr. and his wife Hannah and their children, Cuinn, Shea, Fionn, and Isabelle. He also leaves his daughter, Dawn Nunes-Mckeone and her husband Erik and their children, Brian, Kyle, Cody, and Olivia. His sister, Mary Stowe and her husband Gregory of Maine also survive him. Charlie especially enjoyed going boating on the ocean, taking road trips around New England, and being with his family. Visitation will be 3-6 pm on Sunday, Sept 18th at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home. On Monday, Sept. 19th Friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 10 am followed by a Funeral Mass 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi then burial in South Cemetery in Belchertown. "
