"Palmer - Clyde Alden Waite, Sr., 87, of Carol St. died on September 1, 2013 at Palmer Healthcare Center. Born June 26, 1926 in Palmer, MA, he was the son of Alden L. and Olga E. (Worby) Waite. Clyde has been a lifelong resident of Palmer and proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion and retired in 1988 after 40 years of employment as a carpenter at the former Palmer Realty, H & L Builders. Clyde and his wife were very active in the USO and assisting families in the military in various capacities over the years. Clyde leaves his wife, Dorothy E. (Clough) along with six grandchildren, Marie Taylor, Richard Taylor, Tammy George, Harley Richards, Jr., Michael Ingersoll and his wife Melissa, Rebecca LaChance and twelve great grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Jonathan, Meagan, Andrew, Wesley, Harley, III, Josh, Taylor, Jasmine, Alex, and Dylan. He was predeceased by his three children, Clyde Jr. in 1995, Linda Richards in 1998 and Cynthia Ingersoll in 1999. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00-5:00 p.m. with a service beginning at 5:00 p.m at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. A memorial graveside service will be held at Oak Knoll Cemetery on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Donations may be made in his memory to USO, Department WS, PO Box 96860, Washington, DC 20090-6860.
