"Palmer, MA - Daniel F. Reim, 62, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at Wing Memorial Hospital with his beloved family by his side after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. He was born in Palmer on April 22, 1951 and was predeceased by his parents, Francis O. Reim (1995) and Mary Marjorie (Keegan) Reim (2009). He leaves his wife and best friend of 41 years, Christine (Jauch) Reim, his two sons, Timothy Reim and his fiancée Robin Peterson of Palmer and Kevin Reim and wife Candace of Bardonia, NY, his daughter, Erin Venneri and her husband Luke of Palmer, and five grandchildren, Donovan Reim , Paige Venneri, Trevor Reim, Ben Reim and Dominick Venneri. He also leaves his sister Ellen Noonan and husband Edward of Wilbraham, his sister Christine Papesh and husband Terry of Palmer, and his brother, David and wife Courtney of Enfield, CT., his mother-in-law Barbara Jauch of Bloomington, IN, brother-in-laws Timothy Jauch and wife Becky of Loveland, OH, and Jeffrey Jauch of Novato, CA, sister-in-law Rebecca Bryant and husband Gary of Greenwood, IN, many nieces and nephews and many longtime friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Frederick Jauch and brother-in-law, Martin Jauch. A lifelong parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Palmer, Dan was a Brother in the Apostolate of the Suffering. A 1969 graduate of Palmer High School, Dan attended Southern Connecticut State University on a tennis scholarship. He was employed at the William E. Wright Company for 30 years as a certified production and inventory control manager and was named Wrights Employee of the Year in 1998. Dan loved reading the sports page, all New England sports teams, camping, train travel and the coast of Maine. A talented athlete, Dan played tennis, basketball, track and cross country while at Palmer High School. He was the recipient of the Shield Award in Tennis and, in 1969, he was named Coaches Athlete of the Year. He spent many years coaching Palmer youth baseball and basketball. Calling hours will be at Beers & Story Funeral Home, North Main St., Palmer, MA on Monday, September 16, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 17 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Palmer at 10:00 a.m. with burial in St. Thomas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wing Memorial Hospital, Palmer Food Share, or the charity of one's choice. "
