"South Hadley, David A. Giroux, 71, died peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, August 6 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Southbridge, MA on July 25, 1945 and was the son of Alban and Martha "Evelyn" Giroux. David was raised in Southbridge and graduated from Bennington Catholic High School in VT and went on to obtain a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from UMASS Amherst. He started his food service career helping his father at Highfield Theater in Falmouth and Williamstown Summer Theater Festival. Early on he became a lover of the theater, helping famous stars, the likes of Jon Stone, original creator of Sesame Street, by watching their pets. He worked alongside his father at N. Adams Hospital where he met his wife of the last 46 years, Dolores (DiSanti). He joined Seilers now know as Sodexo as Food Service Administrator at Springfield Hospital, now Baystate Medical Center. He then became District Manager of the Northeast Region. He retired after 37 years of service. He served on the Citizens Advisor to School Committee, President of Tri-City Youth Hockey, S. Hadley Hockey Assoc., chaired Food Committee for many Relay For Life Holyoke-Chicopee Unit. He was a CCD teacher at St. Theresa Church where he was an active parishioner. He enjoyed playing solitaire on his IPAD and watching golf on TV and the Red Sox's. He especially enjoyed the theater and Broadway Shows and music. David loved his vacations at Cape Cod with his family. He will always be remembered for being a very kind, loving and family man for those that were lucky enough to know him. He will be sadly missed by his wife Dolores and their three children, Jon of Guielderland, NY, Christopher and his wife, Nancy Godbout of S. Hadley and Matthew of East Hampton along with his two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Evan. He is also survived by in laws, Diana Arabia and her husband Paul and Evelyn DiSanti of N. Adams, Andrew DiSanti of Boezman, MT, Anthony DiSanti and Silvio DiSant of Adams and brother in law Ronald Tenczar of Cheshire, MA along with cousins, Ann Marie Pignataro of Shrewsbury, Patsy and Leigh Allen of Winstead, CT, Joan Giroux of Southbridge and Jimmy and Ellen Giroux of Brimfield along with many other cousins and nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Mary Ann Tenczar. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa of Lisieux Church. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery in N. Adams.
