"South Hadley, Dolores A. Sweeney, 84, died peacefully at her home on Monday, September 12, 2016. She was born in Chicopee on June 5, 1932 and was the daughter of Oliver R. White and Ann Pyzik. She resided in Chicopee for most of her life before relocating to South Hadley in 1994. She and her late husband George, enjoyed traveling to Ireland and most especially their trip to Rome where they met Pope John Paul II. Dolores was not afraid to die and was anticipating the beautiful reunion with her beloved George who preceded her in death in 2010, they were married for 59 wonderful years. She is survived by her sister, Linda Sagan of Chicopee and close friend, Michael Luvera of Springfield. Baystate VNA & Hospice is recognized for their compassionate and loving care provided to Dolores. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 16th at 11:30 a.m. at Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St. Followed by burial at St. Rose Cemetery. A calling hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. will precede the service. Donations in her memory may be made to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA 01102."
