" Edward F. Nellis, 70, of Chauncey Walker St., died with his family by his side November 16, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Taunton, MA November 25, 1934, he was the son of the late John J. and Mary (Hebert) Nellis. A career military man, he lived in many areas, settling in Belchertown 18 years ago. Following his 23 year career in the Air Force, he worked as a civilian at Westover Air Reserve Base until the time of his death. During active duty, he served in Korea and Vietnam. In his leisure, he played semi professional hockey, softball and baseball. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years, Patricia (St. Thomas) Nellis, along with his daughter Cindyrae Minie and her husband Paul of Ludlow, his three sons, Theodore of Belchertown, James of Longmeadow, and Kevin and his wife Gina of Bradford along with 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Bujak and her husband Mark, Melissa, Samantha, Julie, T.J., Kristen, Nicole, Kayla, Shaylee and Gianna and 4 great grandchildren, Arianna, Brianna, Haley and Donnie. He is also survived by a cousin, Genevieve Andrade of Taunton and his loyal Sheltie companion, Max. Funeral services will be Monday at 8:00 a.m. from the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home followed by a liturgy of Christian burial at 9:00 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Quaboag Valley Hospice, 42B Wright St, Palmer, 01069."
