Eleanor A. Rhodes

"Eleanor A. Rhodes, 76, of Pleasant St., died Monday, December 21 at Renaissance Manor. Born in Ware, October 17, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Helen (Martin) Rhodes. She lived in Belchertown for many years before moving to Holyoke where she has lived for the past 40 years. She received her LPN degree from MMH, Pioneer Valley Division, School of practical nursing and worked for Holyoke Medical Center for 30 years before retiring. Eleanor was also an active volunteer at the hospital as well as serving on its Women's Auxiliary Executive Board. She had also worked for Holyoke Soldier's Home previously. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Chapter Order of Eastern Star. She will be missed by her three children, Kenneth C. Dyer of New Britain, CT, Diane (Dyer) Viering of Strafford, NH, and Steven Dyer of W. Palm Beach, FL. She also leaves two brothers Kenneth Rhodes of Palmer, and Stanley Rhodes of Bradenton, FL. A service to remember her life will be Wednesday, December 30 at 12:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St., (Rte. 116) followed by burial in Forestdale Cemetery, Holyoke. Calling hours will precede the service on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. For those wishing, donations may be made in her memory to Shriner's Hospital, Carew St., Springfield."
