Ernest M. Jeffery

"Holyoke - Ermest M. Jeffery , 89, of Chicopee, died on October 23, 2013 at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke. Born August 28, 1924 in Prince Edward Island, Canada, he was the son of George and Ellen (Barrett) Jeffery. Ernest proudly served his country during WWII in the US Marine Corps, where he received a purple heart and Gold Star. He has lived in Holyoke for the past 4 years, previously being a longtime resident of Chicopee. Ernest was a longtime employee of AT & T that later was bought by Verizon. In his leisure, he enjoyed playing tennis and the organ. He had always been very musically inclined. Ernest is survived by two daughters, Patricia Cain of Durham, NC and Judith Howell of Manchester, NH, along with 2 grandchildren and his siblings Kathleen LaCroix of FL, and Norman Jeffery of FL. Ernest is also survived by 5 nephews and 3 nieces, which included his "adopted daughters", Susan Daley Emery of Palmer and Lynn Pardo, also of Palmer. Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by a son Wayne Jeffery and two brothers Stewart and Reginald Jeffery. Services will be held at a later date and Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
