"Brimfield - Ernest M. Polom, 81, of Sunnydale Circle, died peacefully on July 30, 2013 at Wingate at E. Longmeadow. Born in Palmer, September 25, 1931, he was the son of Frank and Magdelina (Shaffer) Polom. He served his country in the US Air Force stationed in Korea during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He lived in Monson for 35 years before relocating to Florida for 10 years, returning to Brimfield in 2008. He was self-employed as a cost accountant. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasant and deer, gardening, and playing Keno. He also enjoyed vacations with his family to Maine and Cape Cod. He was accepting of everyone and never passed judgement on anyone. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Diane (Lanciault) Polom on April 11, 2013. He is survived by 2 sons, Roger Charbonneau of Goshen, KY, and Douglas Charbonneau of Columbia, SC, and 2 daughters, Catherine Penniman of E. Longmeadow, and Patricia Beauregard of Belchertown. He also leaves 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Calling hours are Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Services will be held Saturday, beginning from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. to process to a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Church. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Palmer House Healthcare Resident Fund. 250 Shearer St. Palmer MA 01069. "
