"Frances "Tootie" (Jacobs) Stevens, 80, of Lilac Ave, died at her home on Friday, February 19, 2010. Born in Pittsfield, September 15, 1929, daughter of Middleton and Mildred (Barry) Jacobs of Windsor. Fran was raised in Windsor and lived in Cummington for most of her adult life. She was a registered nurse and worked at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Pittsfield General, and later in the Central Berkshire School District, Chapter 766 Program before her retirement. She enjoyed her connection to the Red Hatters and "Us Girls" groups. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years John L. Stevens, and her 3 sons, John M. and his wife Deborah of Holland, MA, Timothy and his wife Stacie of Anchorage, AK, and Todd of Mason, OH, along with her 8 grandchildren, Zachary, Krystle, Ryan, Devan, Clayton, Aaron, Nicholas and Jonathan (Jack). She also leaves 2 sisters Isabelle Fenton of Agawam, and Barbara Watson of Westfield. She was pre-deceased by her sister Phyllis Allen of Pittsfield, and brother Richard Jacobs of Windsor. We will remember Fran, Mom, Grams for her love of her Husband, kids, grandchildren, passion for her chipmunks (some she patted and combed), the many thousands of birds she fed through the winters, the gray foxes she fed grapes to and her beautiful flower gardens. A service of remembrance will be Saturday, February 27 at the Cummington Congregational Church at 11 am, followed by light refreshments in the Vestry. All are welcome. Burial will be in Dawes Cemetery in the spring. For those wishing, donations may be made in her name to Easter Seals Massachusetts, American Heart Association or the Cummington Fire Department. "
