"Belchertown-George B. "Bart" Champoux, 69, of Gold St., passed away September 3, 2016 at home with his family by his side. Born May 4, 1947 in Northampton, he was the son of George E. and Marion (McBride) Champoux. Bart has lived in Belchertown for over 40 years and started the Auto Body Technology program at Pathfinder Regional Vocational High School. As the lead teacher, he taught many students there until his retirement 4 years ago. Bart was an avid fisherman and loved making custom made fishing rods and was also a motorcycle enthusiast. He was Past Master of the Vernon Lodge of Masons in Belchertown and also a Shriner. Bart will be dearly missed by his wife, Leslie (Russo) Champoux, along with his 3 children, Monique (Champoux) Furtaw and husband James of Pelham, Jeremy Champoux and wife Amy of TX and Kristen Champoux. He also leaves 3 dear grandchildren, Jacob, Maggie and Elsie, extended family as well as many close friends. In 2005, he was predeceased by his brother, Rodney. Visitation for all will be Wednesday Sept 7th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. A funeral service for friends and family will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. For those wishing, donations may be made in his memory to either Cooley Dickinson VNA/Hospice, 168 Industrial Dr., Northampton, MA 01060 or the German Shepherd Rescue League, P.O. Box 299, Wayland, MA 01778, honoring his love of German Shepherds. "
