"George A. Scott, 87, of Beech St., died peacefully on Tuesday, September 24 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, April 10, 1926, he was the son of George and Effie (Minor) Scott and has lived in Palmer all of his life. A proud and decorated veteran, he served in the Army during WWII. His working career was as a welder for the former Diamond International where he worked for 37 years before his retirement. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed traveling, hunting, and tending to his yard. He was also a skilled woodworker, and loved his dog Shadow. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years, Doris (Stokowski ) Scott, and 2 sons, John and wife Pam of Richmond, VT, and Cole and wife Susan of Palmer. He also leaves his 3 precious grandchildren Chris (Linda), Tim (Maggie) and Wendy Scott, along with 2 great grandchildren Lillian, and Joseph. Additionally, he leaves his sister Hazel Walker of Barre. Calling hours will be Sunday, September 29 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. followed by a service to remember his life at 4:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St., (Rte 20). For those wishing, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice. "
