Gloria T. Belisle

"Absecon, NJ, Gloria T. (Berry) Belisle, 83 - passed away on Sunday, March 7, in Parkland, FL. She was raised in Three Rivers, Massachusetts with her five siblings where she enjoyed the closeness that only comes from a small town life. During World War II she worked briefly as a welder until a handsome blue-eyed Navy man swept her off her feet and made her his wife. Gloria became a "world traveler". After a honeymoon in Niagara Falls she and Robert settled in Mt Holly. From there the traveling began including assignments in Virginia, California, Japan and Italy. Her most memorable state-side postings were where her children were born in Oklahoma and Texas. Although she held several jobs prior to her marriage, her great job was being a Mom. She made sure every house was a home. After Bob retired in 1982, the family moved to Absecon, NJ. Gloria always felt that she and Bob had come full circle. It can be said that Bob took the girl from the small town, but not the small town from the girl. Anybody she met was a potential friend. She was quite the conversationalist. Talking to her was like being home. She had a knack for knowing the right things to say to get you talking. She wore many titles: Wife, Mommy, Mom, Mrs. B, or Bob's favorite "My Bride", but her favorite was that of Memere. She couldn't wait to be a grandmother and was rewarded five times over. She is predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Robert Belisle. She is survived by her sister Ruth Stevens of Fort Myers, FL, her daughters Catherine and James Paul of Parkland, FL; Gloria and Don Scull of Galloway (NJ); Patty and Jeff Roswell of Absecon, NJ, and Irene Cahill of McLean, VA. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Hannah, Reba, Ethan, Jessy and Marissa and several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass for Gloria will be Saturday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Church of Divine Mercy (formerly Sts. Peter & Paul), Main St., Three Rivers, MA followed by burial in St. Ann's Cemetery.
