Helen T. Bernard

"Holyoke - Helen T.(Kennedy) Bernard, 85, of Jarvis Ave. died on October 11, 2013. Born December 20, 1927 in Springfield, MA, she was the daughter of Daniel J. and Mabel C. (Halpin) Kennedy. Helen and her husband Gerard lived in Holyoke since 2011, and were longtime residents of South Hadley. Helen was a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and had a long career in nursing care. She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church, a member of the Rosary Altar Society and active in several community services for many decades. Helen was predeceased by her husband of 60 years in February of 2013. She will be greatly missed by her children, Mary Ralph and her husband Alan of Tuxedo, NY, Christine Templeton and her husband William III of Atlanta, GA, Geraldine Berg and her husband David of San Francisco, CA, Gerard Bernard and his wife Karen of Belchertown, MA, John Bernard of Chicopee, MA, Paul Bernard and his wife Shirley of Singapore along with 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Barbara Anderson, Daniel Kennedy, and Karen Hawk, along with her sister-in-law Emma Bernard Lavallee. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home with a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. or meet directly at the church.
