" Helen G. (Garvey) Wallace died June 28, her 87th birthday. Born in Springfield June 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Hyde) Garvey. A graduate of the High School of Commerce, Mrs. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She was a receptionist for Dr. Ritchie Waugh in Springfield for 25 years before retiring in 1983. She has been a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Springfield. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 59 years, John J. Wallace, along with her three children, Barbara Barash and her husband Don of Kentfield, CA, Mary Baltren of Belchertown and John , Jr, of Alexandria, VA. She also leaves two brothers, James Garvey of Springfield and Joseph Garvey of CA, and a sister Mary Giansante of Elba, NY, along with nine grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her brother John Garvey and her son-in-law Peter Baltren. Funeral services will be Friday July 1st at 8:00 am from the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St. (Rte. 202) followed by a liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Francis Church. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Helen’s memory to Baystate VNA and Hospice PO Box 9058 Springfield, MA 01102-9058 . "
