Karen R Murphy

"South Hadley-Karen R. Murphy, 65, passed away August 17, 2016 at home. Born September 21, 1950 in Derby, CT, she was the daughter of Robert and Margaret (Rast) Murphy. Karen received her BA from UMass and her Waldorf Certificate from Antioch University. For many years, Karen was part of the early childhood staff at the Hartsbrook School. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, David Kane, as well as her brother, Robert Murphy, Jr. She will be missed by her niece, Mya Rath of Oakville, CT, her nephews, Michael Murphy of Vero Beach, FL and Mark Murphy of Captain Cook, HI, along with her partner and friend, Douglas Abbott of Aurora, CO and dear friend Mary Ann Munger of Granby, MA. Services will be privately held by the family and Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Providence Ministries, 51 Hamilton St., Holyoke, MA 01040. "
