"Leland A. Miner, 98, of Reeds Landing died September 22, at home. Born in Kennebunk, ME, October 27, 1906, he graduated from Kennebunk High School in 1924 and came to Springfield to attend Bay Path Institute. He was a resident of Belchertown for over 60 years and was a long-time member of the Belchertown Congregational Church where he once served as Treasurer. He worked as a quality inspector for Savage Arms Corporation, retiring in 1971. Mr. Miner was a devoted and loving husband and father. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Achnick) Miner, in 1990 after 58 years of marriage. He is survived by a son, Leland P. Miner, and his wife, Jo Ann, of Wilbraham and a daughter, Susan E. Merrell, and her husband, Richard, of Middlefield, as well as four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service October 1 at 10:00 a.m. in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Beers & Story Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Persons wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to The Congregational Church of Belchertown, UCC, PO Box 603, to the Clapp Memorial Library, PO Box 627, Belchertown MA 01007, or to a charity of their choice. "
