" Belchertown - Wilfred "Marty" G. Martel, 67, of Pinebrook Dr., passed away on December 31, 2009 at Cooley Dickinson Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 26, 1942 in Springfield, son of the late Wilfred "Fritz" and Lillian (Maillard) Martel. Marty was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School, and lived in Belchertown for the past 38 years. He was the owner and operator of Kitchen Tune-Up, taking pride in renovating and restoring local kitchens. Marty had a special love for deep-sea fishing. His other interests were dancing, travel, games, and books. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jane (Labonte) Martel and three daughters, Sharon Lemont and husband Jay of Northborough, Kim Ferreira and husband Gary of Sturbridge and Dee Dee Gonsalves and husband Paul of Ludlow. He also leaves his precious grandchildren who brought him so much joy: Gabrielle, Mary, Lucas and Lindsey. He will also be missed by his sister, Marie Martel of Cape Coral, FL. Family and friends may gather in Belchertown at Beers & Story Funeral Home on Tuesday, Jan. 5th at 9:15 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Church followed by a burial at Lake Vale Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Jan. 4th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church Building Fund, Belchertown, MA 01007. "
