Raymond C. Germain

" Palmer - Raymond C. Germain, 79, of Laurel Rd., passed away on September 13, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 27, 1933 in Springfield, MA, son of the late Louis and Florence (Allen) Germain. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Raymond retired, as a design engineer from Combustion Engineering in CT. During his 20 years at Combustion Engineering he collaborated on two patents. Raymond was a member of the New England Brigade Civil War Unit, the Ninth Mass. Artillery Unit as well as a volunteer for Springfield Armory. He was also a member of the New London Topographical Engineering Unit. Raymond was very creative working with wood, land, his home and garden. He was an avid reader and collector of books, donating many to the Union Library in, CT. He loved baseball and watching the Red Sox's. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 54 years, Marianne (Robinson) Germain of Palmer and three children Robbin Germain of Johnson City, TN, Bonnie Germain of Indian Orchard and Kevin Germain and his wife Dianne of Easthampton. He also leaves four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services for all their care. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5:00 p.m. at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home. Calling hours will precede the service from 3:00-5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Noble Visiting Nurse and Hospice Services, 77 Mill St., Westfield, MA 01085. "
