" Belchertown-Richard E. “Bert” Bertram, 79, of Pine Valley Plantation, died November 9. Born May 11, 1926 in Springfield, he was the son of the late James A. and Ethel M. (Barnes) Bertram. Richard worked at Bertram’s Refrigeration with his father, and also at Pratt & Whitney, Technicolor, Diamond Match and retired from H.P. Hood in Agawam in 1989. After his retirement he then went to work for Arrow Security. Throughout his working career, he was self-employed as a Master Electrician. Richard served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy, and was a Mason and Shriner. He is survived by his three children, Cynthia Weber of Agawam, Richard P. of Blandford, and Pamela Bertram Sulack of Lancaster, CA, along with his stepchildren, Peter DiMascola of Palmer, James DiMascola of Columbus, OH, Patricia Cross of Agawam, and Angela DiMascola of Chicopee. Richard also leaves 16 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Ernestine “Tiny” (Maharne) Daigneau in 2005, his second wife Mary M. (Burnham) in 1993 and his sister Marian E. Reiss (1994). At Richard’s request, services will be held privately, and Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to either Chromosome 22 Foundation, c/o Lisa Clewes, 40 Woodcrest Rd., Springfield, MA 01129, or to Shriner’s Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA.
