"W. Springfield-Richard Norman LaPierre , 71, died on July 17, 2016 in Agawam. Born in Ludlow, October 10, 1944, he was the son of Aldhemor and Marie Catherine (Lahey) LaPierre and lived in Feeding Hills for 30 years before moving to W. Springfield. Richard graduated from Springfield Technical High School and the former WNEC. He served in the Army National Guard for six years and worked as a food broker for Morris Alper and Sons, later Acosta, for 30 years before retiring. An avid golfer, he was a member of Oak Ridge Country Club in Agawam. He was also a member of the Bogey Club, a "family" of golfers, who, for 35 years, took golfing trips together. He will be missed by his 2 sons, Brett LaPierre and Michelle McGlone of Walpole, MA and Brian LaPierre and his wife Katie along with their 2 children Aiden and Caelyn of Whitman, MA along with his former wife, Linda LaPierre Haraty of East Longmeadow. He also leaves his siblings, George LaPierre of West Springfield, MA, and Marie and Edward Gallerani of Belchertown as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert LaPierre. Services will be held on Saturday, July 23 at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in South Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sat. from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at the Beers and Story Belchertown Funeral Home, 10 Maple St, (Rte.202). For those wishing, donations may be made to the American Lung Association. "
