"South Hadley, Rita H. (Desjardins) LeGrand, 100, of Lyman St., died peacefully on Friday, June 24 at her home. Born in South Hadley, November 9, 1915, she was the daughter of Pierre and Marie Louise Desjardins and was a lifelong resident. She was a communicant of St. Theresa's Church and enjoyed tending to her home and garden. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years, Roy E. LeGrand in 2006. She will be deeply missed by her only daughter Louise Duran and her husband Jay of Derby, KS along with her 5 precious grandchildren Lisa Dolan, Linda Patterson, David and Stephen Duran and Lee Anne Hauschild. She also leaves 12 great grandchildren. The last of 12 children, Rita leaves many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. The family extends their gratitude to her loving caregivers, her grand niece, Carla Gaouette of S. Hadley along with Cheryl Denniston, Annette Naginewicz, Cindy Rainaud, Sue Payne, Jen Sirois and Tina Couture. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church followed by burial in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home, 646 Newton St.(Rte 116). For those wishing to honor her memory, donations may be made to St. Theresa's Church, 9 E. Parkview Dr. South Hadley, MA 01075. www.beersandstory.com "
